AI engines and models

AskAiRank tracks eight AI engines: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Grok, Llama, Mistral and DeepSeek. Every prompt you track is sent to every engine you have selected, so the engines you choose decide what your scores describe.

What your plan includes

Two things are limited: how many engines run at once, and which engines are available at all.

Choosing your engines

Open Brand Settings and the AI engines section. Tick the engines you want, save, and the change applies from the next daily poll. Historical runs are never deleted, so an engine you switch off keeps the history it already produced, and an engine you switch on starts from empty.

Two rules of thumb:

• On a small plan, pick engines whose users look like your buyers rather than one of each. ChatGPT alone covers the largest audience.
• Perplexity behaves differently from the rest: it answers with live sources and cites them, so it is the engine that most often turns a citation into a mention. If your strategy leans on being quoted by other sites, it is worth the Pro plan on its own.

Models

Each engine has a default model, and that is what Free and Starter always use. On Pro and above you can pick the exact model per engine, next to the engine in the same settings screen.

Choose a specific model when you need to match what your customers actually use, or when you are comparing a cheap fast model against a flagship one. Otherwise leave the default: the defaults track what the engines serve to most people, and they are updated as the engines change.

Reading results per engine

The dashboard’s AI Platform Presence card shows your Visibility Score per engine, from Strong down to Low, with anything you do not track marked as not tracked. Big differences between engines are normal, not a bug: they are trained differently, they retrieve differently, and Perplexity in particular reflects whatever the live web says today.
