Markets and languages

How to track the same product in more than one country or language, how the market filter changes what you see, and when a second market helps.

Updated:

AI answers are not the same everywhere. Ask about the best invoicing app in English and in German and you often get two different shortlists, because the engines lean on different sources. If you sell in more than one market, track more than one.

Brand default

Your brand has a default market and language, set in Brand Settings. Every prompt inherits it unless you say otherwise, so if you only sell in one place, set it once and forget about it.

Per prompt

The Add Prompt dialog has optional Country and Language fields. Leave them on β€œInherit from brand” for the normal case, or set them explicitly to track a specific market.

The important part is that the prompt text should match the language you select. A German-language market with an English prompt measures how English speakers searching from Germany are answered, which is a real thing to measure but rarely the thing people mean.

The market filter

The market selector at the top of the dashboard narrows every number to one market, or shows all markets combined. Comparing the same brand across two markets is the fastest way to find out that you are strong at home and invisible abroad, or the reverse.

Practical advice

  • Do not split a small prompt budget across four countries. Two markets tracked properly beat four tracked thinly.
  • Duplicate your best prompts into the second market rather than inventing new ones, so the comparison is like for like.
  • Expect lower visibility in a new market at first. It usually means the local sources, directories, review sites, community threads, have not covered you yet, which is a job for Listings and the Playbook.
