Prompts: choosing what to track

Prompts decide everything else. Track the wrong questions and your Visibility Score is a precise measurement of something nobody asks.

What a good prompt looks like

A prompt is a full question in the words a buyer would use.

• “What are the best AI writing tools for a small marketing team?”
• “Which invoicing app works best for freelancers in the EU?”
• “Is Notion or Obsidian better for research notes?”

Not “ai writing tools” and not “invoicing”. Keyword fragments produce list-shaped answers that no real user ever sees.

Aim for a mix:

• Category questions (“best X for Y”) show whether you are on the shortlist at all.
• Comparison questions (“X vs Y”) show how you are framed against a named rival.
• Problem questions (“how do I stop Z happening”) show whether you get recommended as a solution, not just as a name.
• Brand questions (“what is X, is X any good”) show what the engines say about you specifically.

Two or three brand questions are enough. If most of your prompts contain your own name, your score measures your own fan club.

How many to track

Your plan sets the ceiling: 10 on Free, 25 on Starter, 75 on Pro, 300 on Team. Most brands do fine with 15 to 30 well chosen prompts. More prompts do not make the number better, they only make it broader.

Managing prompts

Open Prompts in the sidebar. Each row shows the question, its category, the engines it runs on, and how it has performed.

• Add a prompt with the button at the top. New prompts join the next daily poll.
• Pause a prompt to stop polling it without losing its history. Paused prompts do not count against your plan limit.
• Edit the text when the wording no longer matches how people ask. Note that history stays attached to the prompt, so a heavy rewrite makes the trend line before and after less comparable.
• Run now fires a single prompt through every engine you track, right away, instead of waiting for the daily poll. Each plan has its own allowance of manual runs.
• Delete removes the prompt and its history for good.

Reading a single prompt

Click a prompt to open it. You get the full text of recent answers per engine, whether you were mentioned and where, which competitors appeared, and which sources were cited. This is the most useful screen in the product when a number moves and you want to know why: the answers themselves say it plainly.
