AI Visibility Playbook
The step by step AEO checklist inside AskAiRank: five sections from technical foundation to monitoring, with a copyable fix for every item.
Updated:
The dashboard tells you where you stand. The Playbook tells you what to do about it. It is a checklist of the work that actually moves AI visibility, ordered so that the foundational items come first.
Your progress is saved to your account, so you can work through it over weeks.
The five sections
1. Technical foundation. Open robots.txt to AI crawlers, publish an llms.txt, keep sitemap.xml current with consistent canonicals, add JSON-LD structured data, ship fast pages with clean semantic HTML. Nothing further works if this part is broken. Site Scan verifies most of it automatically.
2. Content built for AI answers. A real FAQ section on key pages, explicit โwhat is Xโ definitions, comparison pages and โbest X for Yโ lists, concrete quotable facts and numbers, and visible freshness and expertise. The recurring idea: engines quote text that already reads like an answer.
3. Register your presence where AI reads. A Wikidata entry, complete Crunchbase and LinkedIn company pages, a Google Business Profile if relevant, listings and reviews on G2, Capterra, Trustpilot and Product Hunt, relevant directories and โbest toolsโ lists, and earned press and blog mentions. These are the sources the engines lean on when they have no strong opinion of their own.
4. Build authority and citable links. Digital PR around original data, guest content on authoritative and topically relevant sites, genuine participation in Reddit and niche forums, and chasing independent comparison and review coverage.
5. Monitor and keep improving. Track your visibility across the engines, track competitors and not just yourself, set alerts and respond to drops.
How each item works
Expand any item and you get four things: why it matters, how to do it, how to verify it worked, and a How to fix block you can copy. Like Site Scan, the fix comes in two wordings, one aimed at an LLM assistant and one aimed at a developer.
Some items also have a Check button, which runs a live check of that specific thing against your brandโs domain and answers with Detected or Not detected. That covers the technical items; the content and authority items are judgement calls you tick off yourself.
How to work through it
Do section 1 in one sitting, it is short and it unblocks everything else. Then alternate: one content item, one presence item. Section 3 in particular tends to produce results fast, because a new listing shows up in your Citations within days rather than months.
